XR 19 midrange no sound

I have a pair of mcintosh XR 19 speakers and am getting no sound from the midranges. I am not using them with the mac equalizer. They are being powered from a receiver. I removed one of the mids and heard sound through it after connecting directly to speaker wires. Any thoughts? thanks in advance

Schematic binder was under an amp protecting the glass...sorry for the delay. Either the 10 ohm 55 watt resistor (at the far back of the tweeter cabinet) or the 8 inch itself are probably open. I doubt if the inductors or caps would open.

Remove tweeter array back panel and the resistor is right there in the middle at the back.

Can you id the specific component from photo? Also where may I obtain a replacement? thanks for your help

R4 is the top black covered part in the first photo.. 10 ohms 55 watts. Is the driver open? Had a unit once where an unscrupulous repair shop subbed a low quality replacement for a pushed in driver,,, only time I can remeber in 35 years a 8 inch failing in a Mac speaker.

If you input 700 Hz at a 1 volt sine wave into the speaker .17 volts should be at the 8 ich drivers leads

Thanks I bypassed that resistor and got sound from the mids. I do not have equip to diagnose and must confess don't know much about diagnosing such things. Where can I get a replacement? Its interesting that both speakers had this resistor defective. Thanks so much for your help. Do you have a pair? Do you use the mac equalizer recommended?

Much too large for my room but did sell dozens of pairs back in the day. Voiced hundreds of rooms/speakers using the MQ104 and 107.

Thats a big resistor to fail I would suspect you will discover other problems.
