Yamaha "70" series components?

A neighbor was given a bunch of Yamaha audio components that are of a series...C70, M70, T70, a CDP and TT too. All are boxed and he was told they were pretty good stuff back in the 80s? He doesnt want them and offered them free to me as he knows I am a stereo guy. I have pretty much been a McIntosh, SAE, Marantz, guy so I know nothing about this stuff. I have seen a little on the internet but its not clear how this stuff probably held up, whether its worth setting it up and taking a listen. I dont have a real accessible rack so it would be some work. Comments are appreciated.
BTW, I am having some issues with my preamp so at the very least I am interested in seeing how that works with my McIntosh MC250.

You scored Big Time. The C-70 has a great phono section for MM/MC and is adjustable. I wish I had the C-70 and M-70 amp and what series TT? Many years ago when I purchased my Klipsch speakers new the dealer had McIntosh and if the Klipsch speakers hit your wallet too hard they offered Yamaha Natural Sound as a option. I had McIntosh tubes 30 years ago and a lightening hit our roof and fried all my equipment :sigh: so I went Yamaha SS. MY 1983 re-capped A-1000 Integrated Class A Yamaha has the adjustable MM/MC phono section and I really like it. The down side of these is they are getting older now and soon will need to be re-capped and ready for another 30 years. AKer Avonic is really good on restoring Yamaha equipment if you keep them. PM me if you want to sell or trade any of these after Christmas..

I have the m-70, it's an interesting amp. It will eventually need some work. If you can solder rebuild the power supply and replace the film cap that's part of a service bulletin. Congrats on the freebie score.

C 70 Control amp--feedback & questions

OK, finally got the C70 setup in my system. Hurt my back awhile ago and audio has not been on my mind much nor picking up and moving big pieces of equipment. Anyway got the C70 setup and done some listening. Seems to need to be pulled and contacts cleaned...volume is a little scratchy as is the balance and one of the eq rotators. Big difference in gain between the equ being in and direct? is that normal? So far, I am not impressed by the direct sound but the equ sound is interesting and seems to have potential. Some questions.
1-how hard to clean the contacts on this baby? i have not popped the top at all.
2-any obvious issues based on above or what might be the issues of this model give its age...est 25 years?
3-are there guys doing repairs on these on the west coast as I dont seem to find anyone in Hawaii these days that is.
4-in ideal case fixed or cleaned what shoudl I expect sound-wise. I have been using both an Acurus R11 and a SAE 2900 as my preamp up to now.
