Yamaha A-420 with Paradigm 3se's.

Hello,

Completely new to this world so be gentle.

Had an original pair of Paradigm 3se's sitting around and found what I hope will be a fully functional Yamaha A-460. Will be adding a Yamaha Dvd-s550 as one source, and a BT unit for my digital music.

For the Paradigm 3se's, given the relatively small room, I plan to foam the rear ports to control any bass bloat.

One reason I chose the A460 over the 500 was that the A460 has a higher damping factor (70 vs 50) which I have read here might help to tighten the bass. I'm a reggae blues R&B guy. I have no idea if the difference really matters but interested in what people think of the pairing.

Just picked up a Dual CS-515 turntable for $CDN50. Fully operational TBC but he did share a video. Only issue is lid is cracked but completely functional (video confirmed).

Feel pretty good but none are in hand yet and the proof is in the music! I am hopeful of seller trustworthiness. I believe that exists more in this hobby world than not.

I'll send a pic of the setup and let you know how it goes. Excited.

Well, "trustworthiness" might be quite high on forums like this. But all bets are off in/on places like FleaBay, Craigslist, and other "meeting with strangers you'll never see again" places. Although I gotta say even places like that you'll meet some really good people and walk away very happy. As long as the gorillas don't have a field day, you should have yourself a nice turntable. Unless you're picking it up yourself then it'll be safe. Even if it needs a stylus and/or different cartridge to tickle your ears just right you'll be happy in the end.

With the turntable purchase I immediately bought Bob Marley's Live double album Babylon by Bus. Fantastic recording.

Ok so I realized I have a set of Paradigm Monitor 7v2's floorstanders which I am considering pairing with the Yamaha A460 (35w/ch), instead of my bookshelf Monitor 3se's. I was thinking the 3ses for the sort of vintage system, but suspect I will improve sound with the 7's. Improved sensitivity 91 vs 89 and deeper bass according to specs.

Anyone have any thoughts or concerns?
