Yamaha A-550 - Static on the right channel

Hi everyone, my yamaha A-550 recently started having intermitent static on the right channel, but only when the volume is over 2, sometimes even when nothing is playing. Any ideas?

We already have isolated the problem to the amp (tried with different speakers and different sources), cleaned the pots and changed the leaking caps. I'm not sure where to go from there.

It could still be a pre-amp problem.

Find the protect relay ( RY301) and lightly tap on the relay while listening to the output. Listen for static increases or decreases..

Any OFFSET at the output when you get static ? Keep a DC Voltmeter connected to see

I'm not sure how the A-550 [ganged] volume pot(s) are set-up to handle varying degrees of volume level, but I'm wondering if some of the soldered connections from your volume pots on the volume printed circuit board may need to be re-flowed - especially the lower resistance pot for the right side channel.
