Yamaha C-2X and B-2X opportunity

So I have the opportunity to buy a Yamaha C-2X as well as a B-2X, the C-2X has been properly restored by myself so I have no doubt in the quality of the unit.

The guy wants $3k for them, which seems a bit steep to me but these guys are also so rare that it's hard to place a price.

What does AK think?

That's what I was thinking but wanted to see how people felt.

Don't know how big an upgrade it will be over the M-80/C-80

Finally picked them up, now to hook them up, I know the C-2X is definitive upgrade over the C-80, I find it hard to believe that the B-2X will be that much better than my M-80 but specs only ever tell half the story. Definitely a well built unit, though I'll miss my meters.

The real question is, do I jump straight to hooking the B-2X up and seeing how it sounds or restore it first.

At the age it's at, I don't see how this is even a question unless you're not at all worried about having a restoration project turn into a repair project. Get both of those units back to prime condition.

Nice thing with the C-2X is I restored it before the guy decided to sell it, just gotta work on the B-2X. Working my own gear into the service schedule is next to impossible these days with demand as it is.

I probably would have passed on that one anyway, the language of the listing makes it sound like the seller has no clue what was done to it. I also have trust issues with FG caps I do not order myself now as I have seen an abundance of fakes.
