Yamaha C2a 2SC1913/2SA913 replacement

While searching for a replacement type for the transistors TR527/528 -> 2SC1913 and TR529/TR530 -> 2SA913 I found the following transistors as comparison type:

2SC1913 --> 2SC5171 (obsolet) --> 2SC4883 or 2SC4883A (digi-key)
2SA913 --> 2SA1930 (obsolet) --> 2SA1859 or 2SA1859A (digi-key)

I think that the 2SC5883(A)/2SA1859(A) transistors are a very good replacement. Nevertheless I would like to get an opinion from experienced forum members :)

Use what you can get from current production and authorize distributors and see where that gets you

The problem is they are high speed transistors @120MHz and the MJE15032/15033 are "only" 30 MHz. Although they will function just fine, bandwidth will suffer. Using as slow as 100MHz transistors will be perfectly fine w/o sacrificing bandwidth.
The 2SC4883 is 120MHz, but the 2SA1859 are only 60MHz. BUT will be better than the MJE parts as long as the rest of the specs meet, or exceed the originals.
 
There were different approaches used to measure fT. That was at least the way I understand it. When you compare the datasheets carefully you will found out the the MJEs are not so much slower than the x913.

It's too bad they don't all use the same methods. That way it would be apples to apples for comparison instead of guesswork (for most people). Some datasheets are also a bit vague too and some don't even list the ft at all... :dunno:
