Yamaha CA-1000 III Voltage Converstion

Hi folks

This is my first post to the forum. I need some help with my recently purchased Yamaha CA-1000 III model Integrated Amplifier. I purchased it from Japan and it runs on 100v where as here in Australia we have 230/240 volts mains. I believe this model is exactly like CA-1010 but for the Japanese domestic Market.
I have two options:
To modify the transformer (if any modification is possible and if it has a primary winding which can take 230v)
To buy a step down transformer rated for 300 watts and above(260 watt is rated power of the amp)

Any help is apperciated.

I have attached the model of the transformer .

thanks

Your best bet.. Unless you can find a 230/240 transformer from a parts unit.

Welcome aboard..

No modification on CA-1000III transformer possible, it's not a multitap transformer being specific to Japan, so parts unit if you must...
Amp will need a refresh, especially the power supply caps.

I run my 1000III on a 1000VA stepdown, means I can (and have) buy other 100V gear from Japan, hopefully snag a alpha one day/

Thanks guys, so my best bet is a step down transformer.Finding a used 230/240v transformer seems a difficult task, maybe some one from Europe would Wana sell where they have 230v. @mbz I have plans to change the caps in all the boards as well as some other parts including those fused resistors in the main board but first need to sort out the power issue.

Thanks Avionic, this is useful information for other users having the same model. How it can be done ? need to figure it out. From the schematics of transformer in the service manual, Australia model needs to be referenced ?

Checked the wires to and from the transformer:

Yellow and Grey are going into the transformer from mains as seen in the pic

There are seven color wires coming out of it:

Blue Pair
Orange Pair
White Pair
Violet
Pink Pair
Black
Red Pair

Blue pair, pink pair, violet and white pair are going into the Power board as pointed below:

Orange Pair and Red Pair are connected to the 4 fuses under the transformer

Black is connected to the main Cap Board:

@avionic is one of AK's resident Yamaha guru's, sit tight and hopefully he'll return and share his wealth of knowledge.

Also with the 14-17 hours time zone difference between OZ and here in the US, factor in expectations with regards to replies from mostly North American members here.

Educated guess.. The original transformer got swapped out at one time or another. Operating with 100v and a 110V primary would result in lower secondary power supply voltages.

So nothing can be done, apart from opening the transformer and checking any input for 120v and then jump it with Yellow(110) for 230v ?

Sure you don't have about a half dozen colored extra wires hanging out of the primary side . Maybe tucked down out of sight.
