Hello all. First time poster.
I recently got a Yamaha CR-1040 receiver. I opened it up to gently vacuum some dust and debris from it and see if there was anything that looked bad before I powered it up. After being satisfied with my initial inspection, I plugged it in and powered it up. The power light came on and it didn't start a fire so that made me happy. None of the other lights came on, no tuner, dial or meter lights.
I checked the 2 fuses that were on the board where the wires to the tuner lights were and they looked ok. I did a little google searching and found out that the lights for the tuner bar are in series so if you have one bad bulb it is likely that none of the others would come on. I took one of the lights out, turned it on and was probing around to see if I was getting voltage to the light bar. One of my probes slipped and I blew the 2A 250VDC fuse. In my dismay, I went ahead and ordered some fuses from amazon and I found a light kit on ebay.

When I got the parts, I installed a 2A fuse and the lights in the tuner bar. Powered it on and everything looked nice. The power light came on and the tuner bar was lit up. I pushed some of the buttons on the front and turned some knobs to see if everything was clicking and moving on the inside and all looked OK. I was just going to get some crappy speakers and a google chomecast audio to test it out, when I had a hissing steam geyser coming from one of the larger capacitors on the board with the 2 fuses. I immediately pulled the plug and powered it off.
I am trying to figure out what I did wrong. I double checked the fuse to make sure it was a 2A 250V fuse and it was. I went to the Amazon and ebay pages to make sure the lights were for a CR-1040 and that the fuses were what I thought they were. The only thing I saw was the fuses say they are 250 VAC. The silkscreen on the board just said 250V.
I am working on getting 4 new capacitors and replacing them. I am not sure which one blew, it must have popped on the bottom, so I will just replace all 4. looks like 2x 80V 470uF, 1x 80V 200uF and 1x 50V 470uF. I can only get 50V and 100V locally, so I am going to replace the 80V's with 100V's.
So my questions are:
Do you think those fuses are the wrong kind? I went to radioshack and bought a pack of their 250V 2A fuses to try. I have not put it in yet because of the bad cap.
Do you think that it is a problem using 100V caps in place of 80V caps?
Do you think I borked the whole thing by popping that fuse and blowing up the cap? I'm worried that I somehow fried something vital.
