Yamaha CR 2040 two different cases??

Hi I have seen pictures of Yamaha CR 2040s with two different wood cases. One is the normal one that sticks out around the faceplate but the other ones I have seen are behind the faceplate. In other words the wood does not stick out beyond the faceplate making the unit to quite as wide. Am I missing something here?? Thanks

The Euro models have the smaller case from what I gather. Space more of an issue there I guess.

I can confirm that, at least for the CR-820. The European case slips down over the chassis from the top instead of the chassis sliding into it. Identical chassis with different mounting points for both style covers.

It's not space issues in Europe. It's that Americans are brutes and need a tougher case.
