Yamaha CR-2040 vs. tube power amp for KEF Cantata speakers?

This may be a blasphemy post in this forum - but, still - did anyone have experience comparing KEF Cantata speakers driven by Yamaha CR-2040 vs. a decent tube power amp?
Does it even make any sense to try tubes with them? CR-2040 does it beautifully...

No...it makes no sense at all.

why not connect both to the same speakers so you can do a back to back comparison. you may like them both so much you will keep them. You will be hard pressed for anyone in this forum to advocate getting rid of audio equipment regardless of the manufacturer. Sacrifices have already been made, many lives lost, in the persuit of Stereo equipment. That being said, if you have to choose because the wife has issued an ultimatum, choose the Yamaha but put the tube amp one shelf down and run some wires to it, say it is the pre-amp and the system wont sound right without it. Good luck. :.)

Tubes will probably soften up the bass but smooth out the highs. If you like the bass tight and quick, stick with the Yamaha. JMO. I'm actually listening to my Yamaha cr2040 as I type this. Great receiver!
