What kind of speakers are you using with these receiver's? Both are nice looking receivers but I would have to think the yammie would be my choice. Love that clean sleek faceplate surrounded by wood. Plus it sounds pretty darn good too.:thmbsp:

I was thinking about using a pair of vintage panasonic they were from another equipment. are 3-way and as a 150 watt

Yamaha all the way. I picked up a 640 for $40 a few months ago and love it. Sounds very nice and the looks are killer.

Don't get me wrong I love RS stuff and that is a nice looking RS receiver but their is just something about the yammies brushed aluminum face wrapped in veneer.

I'm a big fan of Realistic equipment and it is a nice receiver. But I'm more of a lighted analog dial type of guy, so I would take the Yamaha.

I had a Realistic STA-720 and sold it not too long ago, I really liked it and it has some cool things that really set it apart form other units and imo its well worth buying/collecting...the STA-720 is a slimmer unit well suited for a bookshelf or where space is limited but is not really a focal point receiver, it gets lost with other things around it and does not really stand out....I would go with the Yamaha, its a larger unit, has guages, lights, wood and makes a very good center point of a system.....even if you are not thinking about adding to it now..you will! This is how it starts out...then your hooked and the searching, collecting, upgrading never ends.....LOL
