I'm working on a CR-820 that has some hiss in the right channel. Seems to be coming from the tone control board. Are there any particular transistors I should consider for substitutes? Here are the originals:
2SC1917
2SC844
2SC1213
There is also a pair of the infamous 2SC458 in the idle current circuit. Normally I replace these with KSC1845FTA, but in this receiver, they are mounted to the heatsink with the output transistors. Hopefully the replacements will work in this configuration.
The FM tuner also seems weak, even after replacing several bad caps. Almost no reception unless I switch to unmuted/mono mode. Time to get out the test equipment for this one I suppose.
