Yamaha Deal(?) on Chicago CL

Listed on Chicago CL. Not a bad price but really like the matching cassette deck. I don't know if I've seen one before.

I saw it but not a deal for me, these receivers go from 50 to 100 top, the deck is not working so count it as 0 money

They surely look pretty though. The cassette deck is not something you see everyday. If only belt is the problem, maybe talk down the price to $100, and that's a great deal now.

But when he says his price is firm, I don't think you are going to see a 40% price reduction so soon to the posting date. Close to me but at that price, not going to happen for me.

I had no idea a working CR 840 would sell fo 50 to 100 bucks. If I found one local in that range I would be a buyer. I also thought that if the deck just needs belts it might be worth it just for the uniqueness factor. It is pretty good looking combo.

I think $100 is accurate for my area, but a $50 unit wouldn't make it more than a day on CL. I have a cassette deck like that one in the barn, waiting for new belts. One day I'll get around to it!

I have a K-550. Pretty nice tape deck. It's probably #2 in the house on the "sound quality, working" list, and #3 on the "sound quality" list - it would probably slip to the #3 position on the "functioning" list if I could figure out why the Sony has such horrid wow and flutter.

I have never seen the matching cassette deck. It does make for a very nice setup. In my area that seems like a mostly fair (but not great) price. Someone might pay a very small premium to get both units together. It would probably be a long wait to find another cassette deck to match up with the 840 (on the open market) if that was your motive. I personally like the "20" series over the "40" series anyway. Not a fan of the 'sandblast look' 40 series knobs...

I have to agree great looking combo and I have never seen the cassette deck. Rare bird for sure. The price might be a bit high but at least from the photos looks like a very clean set up.

With only needing a belt if it is true, not great, but not bad either in my area.
