Hi I'm new to AK as of today. Needless to say I'm just trying to acquaint myself with the rules. Please do not be shy about letting me know if I do something that's an AK "no, no." I have a question, While in Japan years ago I was given a Yamaha GT 1000 turn table. I know the GT stands for Gigantic and tremendous. It is a massiive turntable. I've tried going on line to get information about this turntable but, I'm only able to locate information concerning the GT 2000. Does anyone know anything about the GT 1000 model. what nature of beast do I have on hand? Did it have a decent reputation? I'm simply curious. I love the way it sounds but have no basis upon which to compare it. HELP ANYONE! HHOPSON aka Harvey

From all that I have read on the G&T line and I have read as much as I can, the GT1000 was the bottom of the line unit, when the G&T line was introduced. Not that BOTL means anything when it comes to a GT. It was only in production for a short time and I think it had some issue so was dropped and replaced by the GT750 as the BOTL unit which was made for the remainder of the run - several years.
It seems like an amazing unit, and I would kill to have one regardless of what I have read. You are very lucky to have such a stunning DD TT.
