Yamaha M-35 + GE-40. Every audiophiles favorite - an equalizer question: possible to use EQ with amp (without a preamp)

Picked up a very cheap M-35 because it has volume controls. Therefore, I can hook a source directly to it and have variable output. So I thought, this Yamaha GE-40 EQ matches well, is there a way to hook it up? I’ve tried a few different combos basically trying to hook it in line with the source (Yamaha CD-X2) utilizing line in /line out on EQ but to no avail. Not very important, but just curious

You can connect the CD player to the EQ line inputs, then the EQ line outputs to the power amp inputs. If you want to connect a second component, you can hook it to the tape PB (or "play" or "input", depends how it's labelled; I couldn't find a pic of the rear panel on a US model) on the EQ and use the TAPE switch to select what you want to listen to.

Yep I had misread the back of the EQ, sounds and looks pretty good for a kitchen set up. Thanks froggy!
