Here's a quick rundown on the gear...
Tunrtable - Yes, the mighty PX-2. A lot of web research led me to this model. I talked to more than one well-heeled audio nut who was using this table even though they owned far more expensive "high end" units. It's *is* that good and like all the Yamaha stuff from that era it's built to last. It has contruction more worthy of a table saw than a turntable and weighs almost 45 lbs. I am still using the old Adcom moving coil that come on it because it sounds damn good. I'm researching cartridges now and will probably swap it out eventually. That will be my final upgrade and this system will be 100%.
Amps - we covered that pretty well already. I'm running a bi-amp setup with the PC2002M doing the highs and a PC4002M doing the lows. Total is about 700 watts/channel of vintage power.
Preamp - Luxman C300. I started with a Carver C1, then a Luxman C383 and finally settled on this. It's got a damn good MC phono preamp and the feel of the controls is just unmatched by anything I've owned. The build quality is amazing and the sound is as good as the looks. Love it.
Tuner - Luxman T-14. This is a very nice sounding tuner. I did a lot of reading and looking and finally decided to pursue one of the old "rosewood" Lux units. It matches the pre very well looks-wise and it's got a beautiful sound. There are probably better tuners for DX'ing but my stations are close.
EQ - An old Audio Control that I no longer use. Need to move it to another room.
CD - Harman/Kardon HD7725 - the best CD Harman ever made. This was their first generation player with Burr-Brown converters and it's built to last (almost 25lbs). It's about 10 years old now and it's the only component I bought new.
There are probably better digital players on the market now, but I've become used to the sound and will probably keep it.
DAT - Sony PCM-R300 "prosumer" line. I have a ton of DAT's and this is a well-made unit that sounds great. Much better D/A section than my old DTC-700.
Speakers - my pride and Joy ! I watched ebay for almost 3 years before a pair of L250's came up for sale in New England. Trying to find JBL's up here is next to impossible. I've spent the last 2 years upgrading them to (And now past) 250TI specs. The tweeter is now a 044TI and the upper mid is a 104h. The final piece of the puzzle was just put in place last month. A wizard on the JBL site custom-made me a set of bi-wireable, adjustable, charge-coupled crossover networks.
The difference is stunning and they have totally transformed into one of the best loudpspeakers I've ever heard. I won't go on and on (and on) but let's just say I'm a happy man and leave it at that

I'm really enjoying digging into this site. You are a great group of people and I love the focus vintage audio. I gotta stay out of the Mac section though...it's too dangerous and tempting....
