Are the that good and that good a deal at $500 (obo)..
To be perfectly honest, I'm afraid to bring anymore gear in into the house and past the wife :sigh:

The other side is, if they are THAT good of a deal, Id be tempted to flip. In that case I'd rather someone who could actually use them get a deal...

But... you never know...

It is an excellent set of speakers to buy for for listening pleasure.

The L-pads needs some work, could be minor ?

May be a lot more involve to buy, and recondition for resale. :scratch2:
 
At that price, NS-1000 go fast here.
Not sure what the difference is on the M version NS-1000M.
 
I'm very tempted. I am local to the Wichita area. They would be for parts for my pair of NS1000M's if they were to shoot craps on one or more of the drivers. Would be a hard sell to my wife though, I have too much stuff as it is. If I didn't already have a pair, I would have been on my way to pick them up by now. Good price if they are as advertised. These are a pair of speakers I'll probably keep till I croak. There's magic with a B-2.
 
I'm not sure what panties you guys are wearin', but that is a GREAT deal.

Just kidding on the panties thing, but dammit, I'd break a leg getting those. I have two pair of NS-690 III's and they are good, but that beryllium mid and tweet makes the difference.
 
With replacement tweeters becoming so expensive and hard to find, I'm not sure I would recommend anyone investing a lot of money in a set of NS-1000s. The tweeters aren't fragile (only blown one of mine in the 30 years I have owned them), but they aren't indestructible. Just keep this in mind.
 
You don't see them come up for sale often that's for sure. Do make sure that all drivers work. If so you can always resell them if you had to and make a coin or two. Wish I'd kept some I sold a couple years ago. Sold for a great profit but damn they sounded good.
 
Things to Check:
(I know from sad experiences)

Requires Detox?

Could be just Detox or other issues?
Does the L pad have a nice feel when you turn it?

Are all the screws correctly in place?

Someone who has done a repair, upgrade, downgrade might forget to put in a screw.
Or if it is obvious the crossovers or drivers have been looked at one night ask why?

Are the speaker numbers correct?

Listen to both of them with a decent amp.
They are very revealing speakers and problems tend to jump out.

For $500 I might buy them just for the back up parts.
It is hard to tell from pics but they have too much of a shin?

They are one of the most celebrated ever made. They have faults but they sound awesome.
They put Yamaha on the audio map. Along with the Quad ESL they withstand the test of time.
I have two pairs. I only wish I could use a pair as desktop system in my bedroom.
