I just acquired the NS-500M to go along with my three pairs of NS-1000M's. The NS-500M is similar to the 1000M for having a 12 inch woofer, similar cabinet size, and tweeters appear to be the same Beryllium. However, the 500M has a different midrange that does not appear to be Beryllium. Both are similar sounding speakers with the 1000M being a hair better resolved which is not really a complaint of the 500M.
