YAMAHA NS-500YST - Opinion

YAMAHA NS-500YST

Someone is selling this 2 hours away from my area. I know the Yammy NS series has very high reputation, but I'm also confused about the many variants they made, like the NS-500, NS-500M, and, this NS-500YST–what are the differences?

And, about this NS-500YST, the second pic seems to suggest that there is a power cable attached, so is it a powered box?

Finally, need opinion on their sound.

YST is and Yamaha active Servo Technology-- likely for the woofer to extend the bass response.
Heatsink and power cord for the servo driver circuit . 100v Japanese market.

Probably, but unless the speakers are cheap enough to offset that cost I would pass. I have no knowledge of their sound quality so take my comment fo what is is.

Be tweeter, Be mids, cross carbon woofer with YST active servo rated to 22Hz but I feel they go into subsonic territories (same technology used in the YST-SW1000 woofer)

if you have kidney stones, these would take care of them stones. I made the mistake to try a THX demo on them while the volume was way up....

The Be drivers make things real transparent...not NS-2000 transparent, but very close. The bass is in a different league when compared to any other Yamaha speakers I heard or most of all other systems without a sub.

I would not buy those, tho. I did see them for sale, but not worth messing with them since the tweeter is going to be expensive and difficult to find.
