Yamaha ns200ma

My teenage son, the resident Yamaha Speaker Hoarder, is at it again! He owns or has owned ns5, ns10, ns10mt, ns244, ns325, ns690 and is currently restoring ns2000's. He found a set of ns200ma at a local pawn shop. Just wondering, would the 200ma be a step up/down from 690ll which are his everyday drivers until the ns2000's are completed. All opinions welcome and thanks in advance, Andrew.

Not sure about the ns200mn - I do have a pair of NS-2000 they are hands down best speakers I have ever owned. They would not be shamed by B&W 30k speakers.

IMO these are a sonic bargin if you can find a pair.

I had a pair of Ma`s for a while and really liked them . They are very capable speakers . They do a lot well . I just had too many speakers at the time and I passed them along .Made some good money on them to .

Well, he's got the 200ma's hooked up to his mx600/c70 combo in his teen cave. When we get the 690's finished we will compare. Oddly enough, he likes his ns10m's better than just about anything. The kids a midrange freak and the elevated mid/hi response combined wth the falling bass response lets him hear things going on in the music that no other speaker does. Go figure.

Wow, those 500ma's look really, and I mean really nice. Regarding ns10m's, it's really a love it or hate it speaker. I had a pair in the basement for years hooked up to a marantz 2230. You can hear guitars and vocals in a way that is just not possible on other speakers. Whether or not that's a good thing depends on the individual. The Yamaha speaker line of that vintage seems to polarize listeners. Me, I've grown to really enjoy them.

I like the clean contrasts they offer visually!
They are as old as I am, and 3 owners down the line (including me) they are in very good condition. Some dents and scratches here an there, nothing major though :) I don't currently use them due to some new JBL`s, but I really have a hard time letting them go...
