Yamaha NS690 MK II - Measurements

I think I know why. Bass when there is bass, no bass when there is no bass~
Plus they sound good.
I forget where I read it, but years ago they were described as having a "European" sound, what ever that means.

Zilch, had you ever heard the Yamaha Be drivers before, in any configuration? It was quite an experience for me, when I got my NS-1000Ms, FAR better than I expected. Kinda like horns, but quite a bit different. ;) :D

I have heard them in TAD and JBL compression drivers. They are also now available for the large-format (4" diaphragm) JBLs.

[I'm tempted.... ;) ]
 
Waterfall tongue about 2 kHz - a characteristic feature of some 3" Be drivers.
It usually correlates with THD level rising.

What is different about the two otherwise identical speakers when measuring from midway between them?

Very informative to see these modern curves. So, this being a MKII, it did not have the ventilated Woofer dust-cap?
 
Just saw this thread. Glad the tweets worked out.

NS-690I and II come into their own when used with multiple flanking subs.
They get more air time than NS-1000 here. Would be interesting to compare independent 690 and 1000 response graphs... (yeah, we know- the test list is a mile long!)

Martin.Ca: Only the I model had the ventilation (and cloth surround- nice.)
