Yamaha P-320 Auto-Return Problem

Just curious if anyone else has recently worked on or solved an auto-return fail with a Yamaha P series turntable. My old trusty 320 was serviced a few years back, and is working well apart from not returning the arm at the end of a side anymore. If I cue up the arm and push it over a bit further to center, it does auto-return. I've opened her up but don't see any easy way to adjust the arm return. Also, if I switch on "repeat", it does not, even though I see correct function when the bottom is opened (push rod changes the interior cam and I hear a click).

I have the service manual copy but taking apart the entire automatic "plane" of the table looks like a recipe to just create further problems for myself...it required removing the tonearm wire connections etc.

Thanks for any advice. I can live with it but darn it, I do like having auto-return!
