Yamaha P2200 power amp - meter and lights cut out

Yamaha P2200 power amplifier.

The right channel’s huge meter and its lights cut out occasionally.

A tap or two on top of the amp fixes things.

I’d like to enjoy a more permanent fix; can anybody pinpoint where to look for a poor (solder) connection?

Also, I remember hearing that the black plastic box labelled IC-301 or IG00137 can become temperamental. If the issue more likely lies within this box, can it be opened up and repaired?

(Should add that this issue doesn’t seem to affect the beautiful audible functioning of the amp which I recently recapped.)

Lamp circuit would be a good place to start.. There is a 1A fuse on the meter board. Make sure the fuse is securely clipped into the fuse clips. Check for cracked solder on the fuse clips.

No the meter driver is not repairable. It is a proprietary Yamaha part and is pretty much unobtainium. But if tapping the case gets it going again that is a cold solder joint, or if there is a plug interconnect a poor connection.

Of course.. Check that the fuse itself isn't unserviceable.
