Yamaha PC2002M BIN Alert...

DC offset cannot be adjusted on this amp, it is controlled by servo. PASS!!

EDIT ADD: Just looked at the photos, the seller flipped the top cover to show the clean side. The real top side has a warning label and likely shows road scars.

while i haven't watched the market on these closely over the last few months, it seems pretty high for a PC-2002M that has been pretty lightly reconditioned. for one, IIRC the DC offset isn't "adjustable" -- it just depends on properly matched transistors. and i just don't trust ~30-y.o. capacitors that have desoldered, "checked," and then resoldered again. some people do though... :scratch2:

So you can't adjust the DC Offset, per se? What do you do if the DC Offest is out of spec - replace parts (are those parts becoming rare)?

Edit: You answered my question before I even asked it cd - thanks

yeah, it's a 2SK146 dual FET IIRC. not easy to get.

Too much, unless you feel the service was worth $200. These amps go for about $400. The M-2 is also the same amp for around the same price.

DC offset problem could be the driver board itself which has become conductive over time. I have several high hour units in this condition. BTW, the PC2002M sounds fairly good at low volume with half a volt of DC. Most non-stereo geeks wouldn't know and could easily be taken by the description.

btw, it's possible the seller just wasn't clear and really meant that DC offset was checked and bias was both checked and adjusted (the same probably goes for the DC output rails).
