Looking at a pic of a Yamaha M70 circuit board that Brutal was working on it had the electrolytic capacitor value printed on the board under the capacitor.

Is this the same for Yamaha vintage stuff like my C4?

It would make recapping these things a whole lot easier. As I can desolder and remove a bunch of them at once.

No..Some models do have silkscreened reference identifiers or values some don't.

I just bought a nifty Hakko desoldering gun and removing them is like shelling peas. You can remove ten capacitors in a minute or two.

So I figured if the values were marked on the board I could remove them all from a board at a time and solder the new ones in.

Rather than doing them one at a time and having my desolderer and soldering iron hot at the same time and having to swap from one to the other.

I mark their values on the pcb with a sharpie and rip them all out. I usually do them in groups.

I always thoroughly clean the boards anyway and the sharpie comes right off with all the flux. Although I am a little more brain dead each time from all the MEK fumes.

When I did my Yamaha M-80 DSBG fix and recap, I made a list with the component ID number and the value and type of each cap as it was removed, crossreferencing to the service manual for double-check and or to ID any discrepancies. Personally, I wouldn't take the chance of just relying on the board printing for the component values.

Yes, I did all removal and install as separate steps, not R&I one component at a time but again I documented each upon removal.
