Yamaha PF-800 Autolift Issues

I inherited a Yamaha PF-800 and am running into issues with the tonearm's autolift.

Essentially, the spot where the needle needs to travel to to stop the platter and lift, is directly over the record's label. I want to adjust it to right before the label, but the adjustment knob's LED isn't lighting up like it shows in the manual.

Has anyone had any experience with this on a PF-800 or PF-1000?

It is a while ago that I had this issue, so I cannot provide a step by step procedure. As far as I can remember the light barrier may come loose so that you cannot adjust the auto lift trigger point by the dial provided on the top. You need to remove the tone arm assembly and rotate the mechanism a bit. I think there is a small hex(?) screw that locks the light barrier after adjustment.

The auto lift adjustment pot commonly gets dirty leading to arm lift issues.

First, undo the three screws holding the tone arm in place and lift the tone arm assembly enough to verify the two wiring harnesses and the ground cable are connected.

Then try adjusting the knob and see if the led light/ lift arm position changes.

If still issues, remove the tone arm assembly and deoxit the pot, and try again.
