yamaha pre amp question

thevic24

deep in sound thought
i have a yamaha cx-630 pre apm and have a few questions.

next to the bass and treble controls are 2 switches that are labled "turnover frequency". for the bass, it has 400hz and 200hz. for the treble it has 2.5khz and 5 khz.
can you tell me what this is for and what it dose?

thanks

It changes the center frequency of the tone controls.

Say it's on the 400Hz setting, then that control will operate -10 to +10 (or whatever) centered on 400Hz. If you change to 200Hz, it will do the same, just with a center frequency of 200Hz.

Normally, one would select the setting based on what point and adjacent frequencies need the tweaking. In other words, try it both ways to see which settings you prefer.

No, I don't know the subsonic cutoff. However, if you Google "Yamaha Manual Library" and then put in the model number on the Yamaha page, there is a better than average chance you'll come up with a manual.
