Yamaha PX-2(3) Photointerrupter

Hi all,
Help!! The referenced part for this fix (Omron EE-SX298) is no longer available (surprise there). I haven't been able to find a darlington pair replacement. I did find what looks like a drop in replacement for the original but it is just a phototransistor and not a darlington pair. Here is the data sheet: http://www.sharpsma.com/webfm_send/1284
Will this one work?? Does anyone have any other suggestions??
I really need to get this PX-2 back to form........:tears:
Thanks for any and all help you guys!

In looking at all the data sheet info I am a little perplexed as to why a darlington was chosen in the first place. The PX-2 schematic just shows a transistor photointerrupter. So, any opinions?

The darlington output will provide different characteristics than a single transistor device. Presumably, the characteristics of the darlington output is part of the circuit design so the single transistor device may or may not work properly.

There is a guy on ebay selling the EE-SX298 but unfortunately, it's a lot of 72 and is quite expensive.

Yea, I saw those on ebay......now if I only had 20 PX-2s I'd be all set.
And yes, I do realize the darlington output is different (by how much I'm not sure) AND in checking the schematic again I see it is shown both ways. In one of them the part is actually labeled as an SPI 201. I can't find a datasheet on it anywhere. So, for right now I am stuck.

Sent the sensor board off to Professor Bizzt for repair and it came back today. Installed it and now all of the automatic functions of my PX-3 work perfectly. The Professor did an excellent job at a fair price. I highly recommend him.

Currently listening to Rod Stewart's Every Picture Tells a Story on the Yamaha. I love this turntable. It's a keeper.:thmbsp:
