Yamaha PX-2/3 tonearm rewire

I am wondering if anybody was successful in rewiring a PX tonearm. I want to rewire my PX-2 tonearm. How can the headshell connector be removed without damaging anything? Removing the screw at the downside of the end of the arm pipe does not make it loose. Is it also glued to pipe?

I looked at my PX2 and the screw you are referring too looks to me like it does secure the head shell. What else could it be holding? After you loosen it are you able to turn head shell either way at all. The shell is probably very firm inside of the tone arm tub and maybe not glued like you say. I have never removed mine so I am just guessing here. Hopefully someone will chime in that has done a rewire.

There is guy I used a few years ago that replaced the sensors on my controller board. He goes by the name of Professor Bizzt. He knows the Yamaha PX models very well. I can't at this time remember how to get ahold of him but if I do I will let you know. He may shed some light if you just ask.

It‘s not the headshell, it is the connector behind the headshell I want to remove to gain access to the solder connections of the internal wiring, of course. After 30+ years the thin wires might be corroded. And yes, there is a reason behind this: If I swap cartridges between my PX-2 and PX-3 they definitely sound better on the younger 3er. More detailed and better treble.

Did you realize the tonearm and transport assys are identical (excepting early PX2 had slightly different transmission) and interchangeable?
Doing so is easy, much easier than replacing tonearm wiring! Maybe swap them and see how it sounds, then you can put the former PX2 arm "on the bench".
Later I'll look for the SN cutoff for the earlier arm as well as studying one I have off a table.

My PX-2 has a different, obviously older drive mechanism. I do not want to open both TT‘s, just want to replace the internal wiring in one of them. I have positive experience with my PF-800 which I rewired with Van den Hul litz.
