somewhere I bought a touch-up stick (pen with a spring-loaded felt applicator).
It's color and finish were nearly perfect for the PX bases.
I'll try to remember to check and report next time I go downstairs.
Let me guess: they're adjacent to the bottom edges?

this stuff will show up as a nearly perfect match. The reason I mentioned the bottom edge is because that’s where I have always seen it and the problem is oxidation creeping under the finish. You can’t really fix it unless you eliminate all the oxidation and you may find that a small defect is the tip of an iceberg, But don’t let that stop you! I did a lot of the cleanup using a sheet rock knife and scraping it up to the edge of the good thing rather than sanding it and ending up with a big taper.
I also found that once the paint hardened, I could flatten it out and make it disappear using wet and dry body paper, probably 400 grit as I recall
