Hello Guys,
I'm currently working on a Yamaha R700.
The power amplifier was shot, so I replaced the 3 hybrid ic modules and a couple of resistors that were burnt and I recapped the whole unit because all caps were leaking. Now that part of the receiver is working very well. Now I’m facing some trouble with the tuner section. I read here on AK that the problem of the tuner not locking onto a station is a common fault with these tuners but I haven’t found a solution.
The tuner doesn’t stop on strong stations but you can see the signal strength meter showing something and if the scan stops it just stops without any signal.
The strange thing is that if the tuner is manually tuned with the little jig that yamaha calls out in their service manual, the tuner works absolutely fine. You can tune into the stations and you have sound. I’m currently a bit stumped by the behavior of the tuner. Maybe someone can help me and point me in the right direction about what's wrong with the tuner or what else I should check.
