Yamaha RX-V867 Wont Turn on HELP!

So I was hooking my system back up (the same way I just previously had it connected, and when I went to plug in the power cord to my PS3 there was big spark, then my reciever screen read "0" until I unplugged it and when I plugged it back in the little red stand by button is light like its off, but it wont turn back on....this thing was almost brand new, tell me i'm not the owner of a very expensive paper weight....
looks like it killed my PS3 as well, when I turn that on I get a real loud fan for a few seconds but then it seems like it acting normal but there is no picture...

Both were plugged into a power strip that was plugged into a surge protector. I had other things in that power strip as well that are perfectly fine, it was just the 2 who suffered. The PS3 powers up but I can't get an image on the screen (im just going to buy a new one cause it out of warranty) however the Yamaha Receiver which im most worried about since it was only a few months old and twice the price) wont turn on. I saw an internal fuse that I removed (looked fine) and the red standby light comes on when plugged in and fuse intact so the fuses I believe to be ok. Since its less than a year old it should still be under Warranty but do you think this is a simple fix for a repair shop or what? I looked inside, i see no burns or anything that looks remotely damaged. I'm going to take it in to repair next week (hopefully), damn closest yamaha authorized service place is an hour away tho. Can anyone tell me damage wise what I could be looking at, and/or if its possible to fix either devices?

No real way to tell about any of it until it's checked by folks with the appropriate gear/knowledge to figure it out.

What do you mean "a big spark"? Like static electricity when you touched something, or at the power cord terminals where you were plugging it in?

Why do you think the receiver caused the problem?
 
Like I big spark when I touched the power cord to the back of the PS3. I mean it was big enough to scare the **** out of me when it happen lol....thats what I dont understand, I had other things plugged into the receiver but they are all fine. Not only that, but I just had it hooked up exactly the same up in my upstairs room, i was just reconnecting it all the same way downstairs and this happened so i'm really confused. I test the HDMI cable and the power cable from the PS3 on other things and they still work perfectly fine, no sparks...its the weirdest thing. The receiver was on my shelf in the entertainment center (with speakers and other devices all plugged into it and the PS3 was hovering in the air as I was holding it plugging the cable into the back). In retrospect I should have plugged into the back first and then into the outlet, but I figured it wouldn't have mattered. Maybe this would have still happened, but maybe not. I'm just cutting my losses on the PS3 and getting a new one (since it was one of the old original ones) but I just hope that receiver can be fixed, or replaced under the warranty since its only a few months old. The place where I have to take it isn't open on the weekend (i guess cause it goes straight to there answering machine) so I gotta wait for the week to take it up
 
Before you bring the receiver in try the factory reset procedure if you haven't already done so. There should be instructions in the manual or else somewhere on the Internet.

Yeah its Hold down the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button while pressing the Main Power button, but nothing is responding, all I have is the red standby light when its plugged in......its gonna have to go to a repair shop at this point i assumed. The fuse inside seems ok since I get the red standby light (i dont when I remove it) but I dont see any other fuses and I dont wana start making it look like I was messing around with it since its still under Warranty
 
***UPDATE***

So i took it to the repair shop (still under Warranty) last week and i just got it back today, I plugged it all up everything works cept 2 major things...the subwoofer receives no signal and none of the HDMI inputs receive any signal from the devices. The HDMI out works because I can view things coming through the component input and I can see the default splash screen thats displayed when theres no signal on the HDMI source. I also noticed a relatively loud hiss when I turn the volume up on the component input that wasn't there before.....looks like I guess I gotta call them in the morning and take it back up.....and I was so excited I thought it was fixed!
 
....took it back up to the repairs shop but dude doesn't come back in until Tuesday so looks like I'm not gonna find out whats up for another week or week and half
