Hey there all,
Hoping someone has a fix for this before I either:
a) tinker this tape deck to death
b) pay someone else to deal with it
I'm trying to record some mixes from an external source, and for whatever reason, I can't get the record button to work while playing the tape forward. At first I was able to engage the record button, but the play button would cause it to stop recording. Then I wasn't able to engage the record button at all.
I opened up the deck and checked it out. It seems that there's a plastic part with a steel wire keeping tension that is blocking the record button. When I move the part out of the way, the record function engages, but the play still cancels it out. If I'm not physically moving the plastic piece out of the way, the wire connected to it keeps it positioned so the record button can't engage.
Anyhow, if anyone has run into this or something similar before, let me know!
