Yamaha YHT-F1500

HI everyone,

I've been using the Yamaha YHT-F1500 6.1 surround sound unit at my place for years now and love it. The receiver, RX-SL100, just crapped out and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for a replacement receiver, since that one is discontinued? It has six speakers and I'd love to be able to keep using all six of them. Thanks!

Welcome to AK! I would suggest looking at one of the newer Yamaha receivers like the RX-V*79 series (RX-V379, RX-V479, RX-V579, RX-V679,....). The higher the number, the higher the cost, the more features and power. The RX-V*81 series is the current model so the RX-V*79 can be found on clearance to save some $ (or get more features for your budget). The RX-V*77 series is another model year older...

Unfortunately I don't think you will find a silver-face model to match what you had.

Thanks so much! Do you know offhand if the new receiver will take all six of the speakers, and if it will affect the 6.1 surround?
 
I didn't catch the 6.1 at first. The 7.1 capable models (RX-V677 and better) should be able to be set-up to use a single rear surround rather than a pair. Download the owners manual and verify to make sure.
