Hello everyone

new here on audio karma

i know someone selling a yamaha yp 450 for 450$. wanted to know if that would be a fair price? and if not what can i offer.
using a empire cartridge, model unknown for the moment. new belt and he says it was serviced.

also would like to know which is the better turntable between yp-b2 and the yp-450 both entry level tts to my knowledge.
i had asked the same question on vinyl engine and no response.

YP450 is fully manual. Yamaha's answer to the classic Pioneer PL-12D. The price you mentioned is ridiculously high.

YPB2 is has auto return, and somewhat better specs...but is lighter, with a shorter tonearm.

You can find brochures and manuals at vinylengine.com; use them to compare the two tables.

The YP-450 looks to be a belt-drive version of the YP-511 direct-drive that I have. The latter is a very nice machine to use and in terms of performance. But I would expect the YP-511 to fetch that sort of price (certainly here in the UK) with the belt-drive going for somewhat less. It would be a lovely vintage starter turntable at the right price.
