Yamaha YP-B2 Turntable -- To B2 or Not to B2?

Happy New Year!

Yesterday was like Christmas again. A friend cleaned his closet and gave me a Marantz 2220B receiver and a Yamaha YP-B2 turntable. Excellent luck for me! The receiver is killer. But the turntable needs work and I'm wondering if its worth the expense.

The platter spins smooth, but how do I check to see if speed is accurate?

It's missing a stylus. I'm not sure which model Audio-Tecnica. I've attached a photo.
It's missing a dust cover, rubber feet and platter mat.

So is it worth it to move forward with this unit? Is it a decent unit? The wood base and tone arm look really nice.

And which platter mat would you recommend? I can search internet for all but think I'll find more experienced voices here.

It's a decent turntable. Not outstanding but worthy of some effort and a few $$.

That appears to be an AT-10 or similar. The model # will on the top, hidden by the headshell. There are decent styli available for it through a few avenues.

The speed can be checked with a strobe disc that you can print or with a couple of apps, one called simply Turntable Speed.

A mat can be made, if you want to save money and be crafty, from felt, cork, leather or drawer liner. Or search online and buy one. It doesn't have to be an original Yamaha. Herbie mats come highly recommended.
