I picked up a Yamaha YP-B4 at aution this summer and just got around to looking at it. Besides needing a new belt and cartridge, the START/CUT buttons were messed up, and the tonearm made a very unpleasnt grinding kinda noise when it was being moved by the start mechanism. I got all of that addressed however one final problem remains. When you hit the start button it drops the needle too far into the record beyond the lead-in groove. I watched it cycle several times and can't figure it out. The tonearm shart is located in the upper left of the attached photo. There's a setscrew there identified with the red arrow that I thought might adjust that but it seems to only affect the return position of the arm. I haven't been able to find a service manual out there, only one for the YP-B2 which is semi-automatic. Anyone know how to adjust the start position?
