Well, I just thought of one better option. How about "Supernatural Sound"?

anyone know the specs on the bulbs that light the face on these receivers? can i take the bulbs out of there "holster" and replace them with others? jus' checkin'.

12V, 60mA. You can get them at Radio Shack. They are hardwired, so have to unsolder and resolder the new ones. PITA, sometimes.

How would you hear it?

Natural sound it is!

When you see ads in bars for "Live Band tonight". Ever see the opposite?

Depends on which CR-series. The CR-n00 and CR-n20 used a 12V 60ma lamp, the CR-n40 series and a lot of the power amps use a 14V 80 ma lamp, so when you say holsters I'm thinking CR-n40 and the white plastic twist lock holders. If so you can order some 8640 lamps from ACK Supply that are 14V 80 ma with short bare leads. If you look at the white holders you can take a sharp pointed pick and lift the bare wires out and remove the old lamp. Then do the opposite to thread in the new lamps.
