Okay - I know that I am risking getting made fun of here - but what is a realistic value for the infamous Yamarantz receiver? I am talking about the Sears RE-1801, the Sears model 28747, or the AGS-152.
I am well aware that these are at best an optimistic 50WPC, most information pointing to low 30s. I am well aware that they are a big empty box receiver. I like them more for the appearance, and I will do all my real listening on other equipment.
Is there any difference in them other than minor aesthetics? What about value? Is one inexplicably worth considerably more than another? Also, is anyone else aware of any other variations of them?
For reference, there are pictures of each, sourced from the web. Not my equipment (yet).

Those receivers have been discussed quite a bit here before. AudioReflex? I also see a hint of Concept receiver look on the top one you posted. As far as value goes, probably not much - even less than Realistic receivers.
 
Right, I have read a bit about them and found what they *used to* be worth (according to some) a few years ago.
Yes, it appears that it was manufactured in Japan by AGS for their own sale as Audio Reflex and rebranded for Sears.
The question is what is reasonable to pay for them, respectively? I mean, they are not real common, but they are also not real desirable.
 
It would be hard to pin a price down because they don't seem to pop up too often. It would be more of a case of finding one for sale and then seeing if the price is something that you could live with.
I'm not much of a receiver guy but I could see paying around a hundred or even a bit more if it was something I was really interested in.

That is a good answer. It is in line with what I was thinking as well, but I wanted to check and make sure. After all, I am frequently surprised at how much something can bring when it is just unusual, but not great quality. I guess that comes down to people chasing after perceived scarcity.

Thanks for the responses, I will take them under advisement. The killer here is that if I am to obtain one of these it will most likely require shipping, which since they are nearly the same dimensions as a KR-9600 (except front to back depth) will add considerably. I will keep my eyes open and see what I can locate that comes in at the correct range, then.
 
I remember having those Audio Reflex receivers forced on us by corporate; the reflex most frequently associated with them was gagging.

They were very unreliable at the time, but there might be survivors to this day.
