My 100B, so far I've only rolled my preamp tubes, I've gone back and forth between Tung Sol 12AX7's and JAN NOS Phillips 12AT7's.

I've run out of tube money to swap the 6SN7's out. The plastic knobs are off cuz I found some nice aluminum ones for 16 bucks shipped from the same place that I've been buying most of my cables and knobs so they should be very nice.

The KT-88-98's can stay.

Yes it's a cheap amp (price wise) but it sounds nice and is very well built.

Chinese tube amps mean business IMO... Pretty high quality for the most part.

Hopefully those transformers are actually toroidal and not standard with round cans surrounding them... That's something I just can't stand.

The MHZS 33e is not, it's the real deal ! I picked one up for $269.00 US dollars !

I'm the same as a couple of other as I can't see the funny either :scratch2:

Anyway, I grabbed a Yaqin MC 10L and have had it for about two weeks and put around 170 hours on it in this time, and it sound pretty damn good to me, It's not silky smooth as you get with Triode, but it's UL after all, has a nice wide stage and plenty of bottom end extension, mids are good, as are the highs...considering It's the stock Chinese El34's still, but when I got it I fitted Russian 6N1's in the front, a better small valve than the originals :music:

And they are all EI Core transformers, and the out-put ones look pretty OK to me, anyhow it will eventually be stripped and a point to point circuit will replace the PCB's down the track, maybe with switching between UL and Triode strapped.

All in all, a big :thmbsp: from me, for the low $$$ It's bloody great.

Very very interesting indeed. It was love at the first sight, some doubts followed, but I'm getting quite convinced: I want to try one.

I'm after a MC 10L or a MC 100B, haven't decided yet, but damn they both look good (and you guys have cleared the rest of the doubts).

The only thing that disturbes me quite a lot is a fact they are all lacking a phono input (and an integrated phono preamp I suppose)!!! Tubes without phono?!? So I need to add a phono preamp to it, right?

Cheers!

Yup, I bought the Yaqin MS12B under 3 bills from Canada. You will be happy. Also bought the MC100B, I couldn't be happier.

If getting the 100B it can be run as a power amp as well, so you can like Kstan' above get the Yaqin MS12B Pre amp that has a MM phono. If getting the MC10L, you could get one of Yaqin's stand alone Phono stages to run with the amp (they have a SS one at the bottom of the $ range and a tube MM one also for a little more), or some other Phone stage.

I agree....not getting the humor either.

I own one piece of Yaqin gear and it is nothing short of excellent. My Cheap Chinese tube preamp beats the sonic pants off of the two US made tube preamps I own on a daily basis.
There are several others on the site who are owners as well. While I have no experience with the Yaqin amps, but based upon the performance of this preamp I would not hesitate to buy one of the amps.
that is if they/it are....
*If it were available from the US or Canada as there are several sellers whom do their own QC on the units before sale and offer after sale warranties.... I'm not sure I want to mess with shipping from China....the same would apply to any new piece of gear I would purchase though*

Bill

Yaqin amps are available on Canada. I bought one in Vancouver under recomendation from a few audiophiles I know and it is a fantastic piece. I compare it to my vintage Mac, and this thing blows it out of the water. I have the MC10T, which is the new class ab rated at 45 watts. It shakes the walls no problem.

Have a Ms20L and is a very decent sounding integrate for the price!replace the preamp tubes and the sound is improved 100%.Very well built, quiet and puts out a healthy 50 watts in ultralinear mode!will drive any speaker. You can`t go wrong with this choice at this price. Bought mine from a seller in Toronto, excellent guy to deal with packaging and shipping was excellent. He personally checks everyone before it is shipped, I was thoroughly satisfied with the purchase.

There is also a Chicago based seller on ebay.
The Silk Audio MS-38 is an updated version of the MS-20L, with a VU meter and improved blue glass 6CA7-T tubes.
I have had mine for 18 months in a second system and I love it!
Ray at Silk is very helpful.
Tried GE 5654 preamp tubes , which really brought the music to life.
Currently using NOS Mullard signal tubes with reissue cryo Mullard EL34S. Beautiful full refined sound!
2 amps in one with ultralinear or triode modes. Solid aluminium remote!
Mu-FI Xray CD . Rega Naos speakers.REL sub.
The price is a great deal. Get yours!!!

I bought a Silk MC-30L from Ray a few years back. It came with the blue 6CA7 tubes. It has performed flawlessly. I did spring for some Black Treasure 6CA7's that are nice but to my ears, didn't improve the audio quality much if any over the stock Shuguang output tubes. Looks like the MS-38 is only $50 more than my MC-30L purchased back in April, 2014. I think I like mine better without the VU meter, but then I find all such things distracting. I am amazed at how many different tube amps Yaqin is making these days. I agree that Ray was very helpful and always ready and willing do "talk" audio via e-mail. I liked the idea of buying from a US-based distributor.

20160622_072344.jpg After a family illness issue, Ray now has the Silk Audio MS38'S listed on Audiogon.
I think the best upgrade option is to get a set of matched GE 5654 signal tubes and keep the 6CA7's. Emotionally involving sound - just lovely on baroque! (The Mullard upgrade is more refined, but can wait until the stock tubes wear out.)
Still rocks the place with reggae & jazz. No hint of hifi sizzle .
Just so musical!
Unbelievable at the asking price.
I'd get one before free trade is abolished, and they build the wall!!!

That's exactly what I've done with mine, regarding the tubes. I've had it for a year and half, running it every day. Primarily using it with a Mac mini > Schiit Wyrd > Schiit Modi Multibit > JBL Studio 230's for nearfield listening, and using Polk Monitor 70's for room listening. I've ran the same setup with my vintage Kenwood KR1000 and my Hitachi HA5700 integrated Amp, and I keep coming back to the MS-38. The Kenwood has gobs of bass and sounds kind of hollow. The Hitachi sounds kind of in between. The Silk just sounds so much more realistic, and has a great midrange punch. No problems whatsoever. This is a great choice for the budget conscience. Ray has been a pleasure to deal with. I would not hesitate to recommend this particular model.
