Yesteryear Voltage

Todays voltage is around 120volts. I just measured my house it is 121.2volts at this moment.

I know yesteryear the voltage was lower, But I cant remember what it was.

I just bought a variac and was wondering what to set it at to run my late 50s early 60s tube gear.

sometimes theres the voltage printed on the chassis.it depends on the year your piece is made.i have a couple amps rated for 117v

I frequently see line voltages of 125-126vac in my home. On the flipside, it sometimes dips down to 113-114vac. Sucks that I cannot afford a regenerating power conditioner.

Back when i was first getting into audio I had a vintage receiver which was rated at 105-125vac.

When I was growing up in the 1950's and 60's, we used to consider the household voltage as 110v. Later 117v.

Around here in the 70's (according to a RCA AC volt meter at the station) the power hovered between 109 to 112 volts.
These days it's 120 to 122 with occasional blips up to 125 VAC.

In my area(Tampa FL) my voltage is between 118 and 120VAC. The lowest I have seen so far is 115VAC and the highest is 123VAC.

I set my tube gear bias at when the line voltage is 121VAC and all is always good. At the highest line voltage, its still under the max rating and high enough at the lowest line voltage to sound good.

I got lucky, my PT has a 117V and a 125v tap.
