Yet another record bin made from single 3/4" sheet

Thanks to the good guys at AudioKarma I finally got around to making a record bin

3/4" high grade plywood $50.00
3/4" half round trim $7.00
Tube of construction adhesive $2.78

I have a pneumatic staple gun and I will also screw the whole thing together

Questions:
Should the lower shelf be raised off the floor? I have casters so perhaps the floor should be raised to conceal the casters?

Where should I place the upper deck? Is there a standard position or do I just "wing it"

Here it is all put together
I put the upper bin lower than expected but it will hold records fine

Plenty strong with glue, pneumo--staples and wood screws
Its on casters

I am going to paint it brown

The big box store did the first four cuts but I would never allow them to do it again
They use a rough cut blade, I use a high tooth count blade
They really don't care about quality cuts or precision, I do
Its a good thing caulking hides defects well

I estimate it cost me a total of $150 with casters, trim, paint and whatnot
I expect 2 quarts of paint should cover it with two coats

Not counting labor which was about eight hours total

I probably will make another

Nice. Put the ones you play on top and your doubles / still sealed in the bottom so you don't have to break your back looking down there! LOL

I did ask the question in the first post but I was out in the workshop and didn't search the previous threads for the answer

Oh well, it stores records okay
 
I wish I had a place to put one or two of those. The only thing I might consider doing is making a small base for it to raise it slightly. Maybe even put a storage drawer for stuff (45s!). Most of my LPs are in a closet. I have 4 Peaches crates set on their side and stacked up- kinda like a shelf. I always wanted to build a Barrister bookcase but big enough for LPs. I haven't done any wood working for a long time and can't seem to get motivated to start a project like that.
 
I didn't create the plans. I just utilized them, The were made available here on AudioKarma

I also placed the upper deck too low and it makes it difficult to get to the lower records bins
It works good enough to store them just not as easy to scan thru them

I'm getting closer to starting mine. My entryway is now well stocked with Russian Birch plywood,as one of the local suppliers had a sale recently.......
 
It wouldnt look bad with some legs on it if you dont like bending over so far. I book marked your thread. I like what ya did there! :thumbsup:
