Yet Another Speaker ID Challenge

Luddite Tendencies
Found these on the local free ads. I've written the seller for more info, but no answer. Kind of a distinctive look to the front edges, appears to be real wood veneer. Anyone recognize them? Seller does give two of the dimensions, 11" x 18". I'd like to know whether I should rush to get them - or ignore them. Thanks AKers.

Also...

Judging from the beverage glass stains on top - they have survived a few good parties. Probably robust.

I should explain: The ads are free to list. The speakers aren't. Also, I doubt they're all in one - who would put wood veneer on something cheap?

I once bought some wafadale from GW for $12 that looked
similar to those. They had a frequency control on the back
well built, an man o man, they sounded great & definitely
could take alot of power. The wife at the time convinced me
I needed to sell them. Their both gone now, guess wich one
I had back?

What I find ever so puzzling is why are there water rings on the bottom of the speaker? Guess the owner was no audiophile.

The look kinda familiar. I don't know what they are but I bet they would clean up well with a little elbow grease and couple coats of oil.

They might be very early Optimus(RS), which isn't half bad, contingent on price.

Someting RS would be my guess too ............... they are about the same size as Realistic Nova-9's but the front edge trim is a little different than the pair I had.

THose could be damned near anything; there has been a plethora of similar looking speakers made.

Depends on how closely you want to define "similar looking"; for vintage speaker enthusiasts, it's all about nuance and detail!

I looked through the Radio Shack catalogs from the late 60s and early 70s, but found nothing close to the front edge styling of this set.

Agreed- my Optimus 1 have that little bevel on the front edge of the cabinets just like those. Looks like maybe the grille cloth has been replaced

The one on the right is upside down- are they 2 ways?

I am thinking third-party cabinets for semi-DIY (add your own drivers). Lafayette and Radio Shack (and many others) sold such things.
I'd have grabbed them inmediately were it easy to do so; what's to lose?
