Thanks for sharing that one.
Tubes and turntables, it does not get any better than those two together.
That suspended rack is really unique.

There's undoubtably some very nice gear shown, but I found the film pretty boring. :boring: Sorry, but someone had to say it. :D

Are those the big Tannoys the one guy has?

I'd really like to hear those.

I'm not sure about some of those turntables. Don't you think the point of diminishing returns starts somewhere just north of an SL 1200? Of course, my SL 1200 is about the best table I've ever heard, so I guess I can't really say.

Take care,

Ed

I like the video, but electricity is NOT 50% of the sound.

FE, trust me, those funny looking tables trump anything like an sl1200.

You're correct. It's more.:music:

Merry Christmas, Alex!
To be specific, it would be more like 4%-8% of the actual sound production.

This is assuming the mains power is not totally screwed up of course(ex. it is 10v to low).

Edit: note - this assumption was based off the fact that the electricity is standard levels. Mains electricity of course.

I wonder what these guys do for a living that allows them to spend that much $$$$ for their obsessions. I found the film fascinating if only for the questions it raised about having the wherewithal to indulge an obsession.

There was a line drawn and the film made it clear: this is what an audiophile is about. These guys aren't collectors. A bunch of us on AK are collectors of systems but these guys in Athens had one audio system each that required them to perfect to their own sonic ideal.

I don't know if I have just seen a film about heroes, or a cautionary tale. But it was fascinating. I think Ebert would give it a :thmbsp:
