You just want to get that last bit of sleep, but the birds decide your bedroom window is another bird that they need to fight, hammering said window OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again.
I keep expecting to see poles of dead birds with broken necks all around the house!

I fear the coming of the condor mosquito.So far on the home front my best friend has been my relatively new 6.5 hp chipper/shredder.What a wonderful invention.Yesterday me and my neighbor converted tons of leaves and many many branches into just a couple of bags of mulch which I put to good use.For allowing him to use my machine and my chainsaw to fix up his winter disaster he tore my garage soffit off and kindly and humanely evicted a pair of damn pigeons and soon as I get new stuff from pops house he,s going to replace it for me .Big help as he,s a healthy 34 and im a 61 7/8th,s bulging disc wreck!The original soffit was some cheap ass crappy particle board ,not even decent stuff. Put up by the previous home owner 30 years ago.So that's approx. 60 foot of soffit to replace.Luckly my dad has tons of it for some unknown reason.

I know it's Spring when I step outside. Usually within 30 seconds, every type of flying insect within 200 yards begins buzzing past my head. Something apparently changed with my body chemistry about 20 years ago. I can't go outside in warm weather anymore without being attacked. I've had yellow jackets land on my shoulder, mill around a few seconds and fly off. Those big bumble bees will surround me if I stay in one place too long. Dragonflies zip to and fro past my head. I look like a crazy man outside - ducking, bobbing and weaving. March usually signals the end to most of my outdoor activities. So I bide my time and await the return of the season of long shadows.
 
Around here where I live, it would be hard to tell it is spring other than by looking at the calendar. Nice days have been few and far between, it's been 10-15° below average most days in April.

Early spring my ass!! :rant::D

Its amazing how camouflaged they are. We tend to have more rattlesnakes, I see at least a few every year around the property. Copperheads are sooo spooky though when you come across them!

At our RC airplane club we used cheap cigars to keep gnats, horse flys and the like away.
