Your favorite cassette deck displays?

Very visually dynamic - isnt this meter the same mech as the PPM from the TC-880?

I don't think so - these meters are called galvanic mirror meters - instead of a needle on the coil - they've placed a mirror. this way a light source, applied through a thin vertical slot, can project a thin line.

The abscense of a neddle would cause this kind of meter to be very fast.

( there is a danish compagny - producing a lot of these kind of meter - but today they are using LED meters - with up to 200 leds vertically arranced : http://www.guano-grafik.dk/pdf/ntpkatalog.pdf )

I'm using this one today, to monitor outgoing levels to a FM transmitter

I like my Akai GX-F66RC. The programming aspect of this deck is also a neat feature. I'm also a bit of a "button" freak

Even though the deck it self is nothing special sound wise. (sadly)

I must say i am impressed with the look of the deck. Love those big whooping VU meters. And the feel of the controls. Solid aluminum. And of course the LCD display.

Sharp Optonica RT-3838.

I still have mine, but its in very bad shape. So dont want to dig out that corpse.

Ebzen, the Sharp was my first deck. I loved that the "time" meter was in minutes, rather than the belt- driven number thing that was common at the time. No, the sound wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't terrible either. I still like the green lights over the silver meters.

I too am a fan of the Pioneer fluroscan display....though I no longer own one.

The main thing that attracts me to this old Denon DR-330 is it`s nice big VU meters....they`d look right at home on most reel-to-reel decks (It sounds pretty good, too !)

In the computer room I have a Sony TC-K60, which featured LCD input meters. I'm at work and it's at home, so here's a photo I found online.

It's in fact a very nice display. This is one of mine, already sold years ago. But I have second one - waiting to be restored. One of the most fascinating decks yet is the Sony TC-K88B. Build like a tank, slim and this fascinating LCD -Meter. But: the technical data are not on the same level as the deck itself is. And at the time it has some defects - eating tapes.
There is another deck with this beautiful Meter. Sony TC-K80. Never owned it...

I like big vu meters, this Akai cs-732d has them and quick reverse to boot, nice looking machine and good sound, except for wow and flutter that I just can't get out of it. New belt and pinch rollers, clean and lube. Look good on the shelf I guess. Darn!
