Your Favorite James Bond

I love Casino Royale, but the David Niven as Bond version instead. Peter Sellers, Ursalla Andress, Orson Wells, Woody Allen, Deborah Kerr and Jacqueline Bisset in a big absurd mess of a film.

+1, Niven and Sellers both as 007. Brilliant.

Connery is my favourite Bond. Moore is second. They lost me after that, I haven't seen any more Bond films since, and no interest to either.

Considering Sean Connery, with the conservative way he was dressed he was the closest thing to a "secret" agent.

As much as I like all the Bond films, sometimes low budget special effects and less than believable plot devices can temporarily color my appreciation of the films.

All that said, my favorite Bond - and this choice is largely based on my associated choice for best Bond film - is George Lazenby.

"There Can Be Only One"Connery particularly in the more Serious Bond movies Dr.No& From Russia.....before all the effects made them silly IMO.Craig is a human Bond with all the human emotions.

Hi,
I agree with you totally, when the series hit " You Only Live Twice" it
lost something, they got to big and the story got lost, I think that's the
main reason why Connery left . That and he he felt he got to old for the
part. Did any of you guy's see his " Never Say Never Again" the soundtrack
wasn't that good, but it was great to see him as bond again.

I did enjoy Casino Royale with Craig but my all time fav. would be George in OHMSS.

Guy was an idiot for leaving the series...

I vote for Connery, and I like "Diamonds Are Forever" best partly because I moved to Vegas in '75 and several of the places where they shot the movie were places I had been to. The car chase downtown where he drives the Mustang on two wheels was shot at the future site of the hotel I worked at from 1979 until 1982, 235 S. Main St, The Nevada Hotel. I was beyond shocked when I saw the movie on HBO right after I got it and realized the hotel was a parking lot back in 1970. I thought the hotel was much older than 1973. I started not long after the Pinto was given away, and I'm not a Prime Rib fan, they had a great deal on a Steak and Crab Legs dinner when I started, but the second general manager soon decided that we peon employees couldn't pay the difference and get it instead of the $4 we were allowed per meal.

Right across the street from the bus station and within about a half mile of three rescue missions and a flophouse, AAA Beds, so you know it was a place that catered to the hoi polloi! It's closed now, and supposedly is going to be torn down for expansion of the Golden Nugget.

I was driving one day and there was "Slumber Inc", where Bond is put into the crematorium. I thought it was a fake place.
Nope

Got most of the "Bond" series. Always been a fan of Fleming's creative mind, who was in the actual "Spy Game" at one time in history.

Asking which "007"s best production is like asking who is/was the best actor/actress of all time.

How do you measure success in the movie industry?
Money made? Length of box office attendance? Best special effects? Great screen writing? The protagonist (James)? Intriguing plot? The exotic cars? Believable antagonist? The gorgeous gals? Ability of director? Etc.?

I think each Bond effort had its strengths and weakness. The real fans tended to overlook the latter, myself included. For instance, I didn't like the twist of added humour starting in '85 that went on for six more movies, but some must of liked this added comedic "twist" to Bond's character.

The above formulae worked, and with $19-$ billion to show for the James' legacy. They got it right!

There's been talk about having a FEMALE actor/tress take over the role of this famous personae. I wonder if, or to what effect this might have on the fans.

From my POV, the last two big screen efforts were two of the better productions. Could have been the special effects. ?

I still think Connery should've done another Bond flick long after he left the series. The premise: A new supervillain arises, and only ConneryBond can take him on. Trouble is, he retired to some obscure island to fish and drink and only Miss Moneypenny knows where he's at. So, she journeys to said island and talks him into coming out of retirement. It takes him a bit to adapt to all the new tech, but prevails in the end.

Connery, and best picture, Goldfinger.

Has to be. A guy I grew up with threw out his beer can collection around 1990, had all the 007 can's (We are in the Baltimore Metro) when I found out he did that in 2007 I wanted to strangle the dumbass!

He did come back long after he left the series. Never Say Never was the film, and it was done 12 years after Diamonds are forever. Barbara Carrera was one hot lady back then and was quite the villain in the film.

Lazenby was excellent. Many think Dalton was the best Bond, but yeah, Connery was great in the role. As he was in many things.

Connery. Only Craig even approached his level, definitely a second place. Moore was like a cheesy comedy Bond parody, Brosnan and Dalton such lightweights, Niven certainly doesn't count. I never saw Lazenby,

You should see OHMSS, Lazenby wasn’t bad at all……. trouble was he came right after Connery.

Nothing about Lazenby, especially Dalton was light weight.

Lazenby thought he was going to be "The Bond" and his head got very big. That's what got him in trouble.

If anybody was trying to hard it is Craig.

Modern Bond is just a 'Brand" at this point.

I had to mention this because I saw all the Bond films from the 70's in the theater because my father was a fan.
Moonraker comes out and the scene near the end where they are coming out in space suits had the audience gasping and cracking up. It was the ultimate cheese of the end of the 70's filmmaking.

That's why people liked Dalton, after Roger Moore the series became more edgy and Dalton was excellent. He wasn't good at any of the humor.
He had to much of an edge.

Ffolkes with Moore is a good film.

Any of the ones featuring "The Saint" as 007. At least there was some comedy snuck in to liven up the boring plot of the Connery 007 movies and the ones to follow.

Most of the time the Brits take themselves to seriously, till they don't.
