Your Opinions Please

I have asked this , sort of, in one of the "Subsciber's Only" forums, but not all Klipsch fans/experts are subscribers....so....

To be sure I'm not breaking our AK rules...This is request for opinions only and NOT any solicitaion, etc....

I'm currently using 3 Klipsch speaker in my 5.1 HT set-up:
+Fortes for rear surround
+RC64 as center
+ Big SVC Sub

All is well, except I'm looking for advice on which Klipsch Fronts to use.

I was thinking Fortes, CF-3s, or????

While I do own some and AM a fan of Klipsch...I am NOT well versed on any except the ones I do own.....

Thanks:yes:

Well...of the Klipsch you have, the Reference RC64 is not a match (but is a nice Center channel) for more Forte's...if you are looking for Mains...they should be more Forte's...OR...some new Reference to match your Center...CF-3s are different Klipsch speakers still so you would be adding yet another "sound" to the mix...
Having said that...I bet it still sounds nice but it would really sound matched and better if they were from the same series or type...
Forte'/Chorus (or if you have Forte' IIs...Quartet/Forte' II/Chorus II) with an Academy or KLF-C7 Center...and then something for those rear surrounds (your Forte's)
The Sub is not needed so much for matching...
Good Luck,
Bill

Thanks for the input...

Bill...thanks for the input.

I know the RC 64 is sort of overkill for my center, but at my age, my ears were straining to be able to hear the dialog until I put that beast in....I guess if I'm going to keep the '64' and my Fortes(ones)....maybe another set of Fortes is the way to go.:scratch2:

I cannot afford to buy a matching 'Reference' set and really do like the 64...

My friend has an Academy and let me try it before I bought the RC64. My other friend(nice to have friends with quality products they'll let you try!!) loaned me his 6 month old '64', so I was able to sort of A/B them.....In my sytem and with my (old) ears....the RC64 was the way to go....again....I'm talking movie watching, here.

When I win the Powerball, I'm thinking ALL Reference System:thmbsp:

I used "Romak's" Forte's I for six months in my main system for movies........

I loved them! Get another set of those babies!! :thmbsp:

2 Hearsy's use them as the surrounds keep the Fortes up front & keep the center You'll love it ! but if U want Big sound go Cornwall as your fronts & the fortes as surrounds the SVS sub will handle the bass
in a 5.1 HT it will really impress you

Good input from all...

I appreciate the opinions from all:yes:

One AKr was kind enough to sell me his Fortes...and to deliver them:thmbsp:

So, for now it looks as though my 5.1 will be four Fortes, and RC64...

Just got home last night from a 3000 mile road trip and I'm too tired to hook them up....but will do so tomorrow.

Then it will be time for me to a/b the Forte fronts against my big Cantons.....my money is on the Fortes for movies...which is 95% of what this sytem is used for,:beerchug:

Winner is.....

Fortes....(for my home theater).

Could not rest until I set these up and tried them out.

I picked the movies... Ratatoullie and Mster and Commander to audition the sound.

The Contons seemed too laid back and was (as expected) sort of overwhelmed by the big Klipsch center speaker.

When I tried the Fortes, ahhhhhh, my goodness...much better.

In fairness to to Cantons....they would be my choice for much of the music I like, such as classical....but that was not the purpose of my quest to augment my home theater. The Fortes will stay....

Thanks to those of you who replied and pm'd me with your thoughts.

Very, very nice! You should be all set - now for your next system! (it never ends)

Keep your eyes open for a good deal on a pair of Chorus/Chorus II. They are bigger than the Fortes, which can present a real estate problem, but are less expensive and smaller than the Cornwalls. They can often be had for the same price as the Fortes - they are truly a sleeper in the Klipsch lineup.
