The amp that got me into this middle aged hifi journey, was a NAD 3020 Series 20, found at a local thrift store. Still use it in the bedroom.

Sony TA-AX44 for me. My Dad bought it for Christmas and that was the start of many thousands spent.! Cheers.

My first amplifier/Receiver?
Twas a Sherwood S-7900A "dynaquad" Receiver that I bought off of Craigslist the first few weeks I joined AudioKarma
I'm still sitting on the fence about replacing those power caps to eliminate the 120Hz Hum...perhaps Christmas will be a good time to get it working again.

My first was an SAE R102. I was 14 and Christmas was good to me that year, got some KLH 8" 2 way cabinets, and some AKG 240 headphones.
The next year I earned a Yamaha P2050 and BGW 750A with a Cerwin Vega Mixer. I helped set up and run a new audio system for a bar and I got all the old equipment. I scrubbed those things for days to try and get all the cigarette tar and gunk out of them.
I really wish I never would have gotten rid of any of them. But hey yesterday I bought a Yamaha P2050, so now it's time to grab some adapters so I can use it to power some stuff. I'd kill to have an SAE R102 again but they are so freaking expensive now.

A Voice-of-Music 1448 integrated amp , paid a whopping 5 bucks for it , bought from a buddies dad who was fixing tv's and radios in his basement as a hobby.
Used it to drive a set of hand-me-down Olsons 2 way speakers , and as sources I had a Garrard model 40 record changer (another hand-me-down) and Fisher receiver-8 track combo with a toasted amplifier section (found that one on the side of the road waiting for the garbage truck) patched in.
That was my first and it served me well until l moved on to bigger , better things.
