Zener Diode Question...

I need to replace a 14v, 1w Zener in a power supply but all I have is a 15v, 1w.
both are 5% tolerance. Will one volt possibly cause issues? This voltage supplies the FM boards on my Marantz 2270. Thanks

Well that would be 14.7 max tolerance on the 14V, so I would say you are safe, but replacing it with the right one in the future is probably a good move.

Uh...no. The stock zener is 14V 1/2W. Replace with the same.

That 14V is amplified by 2.5 to get the proper output voltage. Any error at the zener, therefore, is amplified by 2.5 as well, so your 1V zener error is now 2.5V at the output and now you can't adjust the voltage.

Use the proper zener.
